January 27, 2006 KestWest Kitty Cat Thursdays Keston and Westdal are happy to have accepted a house gig at the Kitty Cat Klub in Dinkytown, Minneapolis. This venue has some of the best ambience in the city. Check out their website for details and photos of the club. The performances are every other Thursday starting February 2, 2006. More details and exact dates are available on the shows page, or view the flyer with six of the upcoming events listed. This is an excellent opportunity to hear an extended Keston and Westdal performance. The night goes from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and involves regular guest appearances from Kyle "Zenrock" Herskovitz and others.

August 7, 2004 Keston and Westdal at the Montréal Jazz Festival On July 1st, 2004, Keston and Westdal performed at the Montréal Jazz Festival to an audience of nearly six thousand people. We would like to extend our gratitute to the festival organizers for inviting us. It was an absolutely superb event. With all the beautiful people we met and places we visited it was hard to say goodbye to Montréal. We'll be back soon!

June 18, 2004 Summer, 2004 Canadian and Eastern United States Tour Keston and Westdal are in the process of booking an East Coast tour of the United States and Canada. The tour starts in Minneapolis in June and continues through July. Some of the cities along way include Madison, Chicago, Montréal, New York, Philadelphia and Columbus. April 23, 2004 Super Structure Baby on Coup de Grace Records, June 29, 2004 Our previously self-released, promotional CD Super Structure Baby (SSB) will be legitimately released, June 29, 2004 on the label Coup de Grace. SSB is Keston and Westdal's first full-length title. The Book LA described SSB as "...downtempo with enough stylistic perks to leave LTJ Bukem wondering why they're not on his Earth compilation series."

How John Keston, a british expatriate came to Minneapolis to mingle his Rhodes keyboards with Bay area bass player Nils Westdal and drummer Joshua Herbst may lack mystic and luster, but their project has the backbone of other established electronic jazzheads like Squarepusher and Medesky, Martin and Wood. The organic feel of Super Structure Baby is owed to its live instrumentation, keeping funk and jazz at the root of its downtempo, drum and bass explorations. Escaping the sometimes repetitive song structure of the genre, intricate themes lead the listener through the moods and cinematic journey of a film noir, from the comfort of a smoky lounge to the grit of abandoned urban landscapes. The laid-back approach to their arrangements demonstrates a remarkable assurance and maturity for such a young act, while the minimalist jazz progressions leave enough space for the music to expand in the listeners mind.
